Pregnancy update

So last Saturday (Valentine's Day) I swelled up really bad, and my doctor told me to go to the hospital to get tested. It turns out that I had pretty high blood pressure. All of the other tests checked out fine, and my blood pressure finally stabilized, so they sent me home (of course only later after we had to cancel our V-day plans).

Then they said to go to the Dr. on Monday to follow up and test again. My blood pressure was good for this visit, and they told me to come back Friday. My Friday visit wasn't great, I had high blood pressure again, so they sent me to to hospital again for another lovely night of some horrible tests this time. They also told me if this keeps up, they'll have to induce me at 38 weeks. So when blood pressure went down again, they sent me home, and said the results for my protein levels would be ready on Monday.

So today we had our appointment, and my blood pressure wasn't as high, but my protein levels were off the charts. This along with my history of high blood pressure officially makes me pre-eclamptic. With this news, he went ahead and scheduled me to be induced at 38 weeks-March 3rd (a week from tomorrow!)

So Thursday, I have to go to the hospital again and get some monitoring done, and if my blood pressure is too high, he will have to induce me even earlier than planned.

He told me I am on modified bed rest, and that as of today, I was done working (mixed feelings about that one). He also measured my amniotic fluid, and apparently, I have too much! So this means there's an even higher chance of me having a failed induction which would result in a c-section. I am definitely scared of this, but I guess there's nothing much I can do about it.

So that's the run down. It's really surprising because up until last Saturday, everything was always perfectly normal, and every time we went to the dr. my blood pressure, weight, baby's measurements, etc...were great, and then all of a sudden everything went downhill!

The good news is looks like we'll get to meet our little girl early, and I'll be pregnant less, which are both exciting things!

So I (or Matt) will keep you all posted on what's going on!

Oh my goodness. You better take it easy girly. I had Tanner at 38 weeks via c-section. I have to say that from my first birth, I liked the c-section more. And Courtney just had a c-section in December. Crazy huh? You'll do great in whatever happens though because it's such an exciting time finally getting to see what your baby looks like!! I'll be looking forward to that post in the next couple of days I guess! Woo hoo! And good luck, but just breathe or swear. They both work in labor!
