My point of view

So as you have noticed, Matt has recently taken over our blog. Although he writes a lot more poetically than I, I thought I'd put in my 2 cents, since I have been through my own emotions through this whole experience.

I am sitting here with my little girl sleeping next to me, and truly loving life. It's so much work, feeding, burping, changing, worrying about everything, etc...but so rewarding at the same time. Now that I am finally feeling better since my c-section, and able to actually do things, I am excited for this next chapter of our lives.

Several of you have asked where her name came from. For some reason, her first name, Amelia, (Uh-MIL-yuh) just fit, and Matt and I both loved it from the beginning. Her middle name, Larie (Luh-REE) comes from my maternal grandmother, Val Larie Beal. I was very close with her, and just months before she passed away, she told me that she wishes she gave my Aunt Robin the middle name "Larie" rather than giving her no middle name at all (which is my case, also). I told her that I liked that name, and that when I had my first daughter, I would name her middle name Larie after her. Although Matt wasn't completely sold on this name, and had never met my grandmother, he finally succumbed and let me have my way.

Matt has surpassed all of my expectations and has fallen into the "Daddy" role very naturally. He has had it pretty hard because he has not only had to take care of the baby most of the time, but he also has had to take care of me. He not only plays with her and sings to her, but he changes her, burps her, and has put the bassinet RIGHT next to his side of the bed, so that he can feel better sleeping at night. He also has most of the questions for the doctors and is our "worry-wart" about anything baby. Just seeing him in this role has proven to me one hundred fold that I chose the right husband.

I am so grateful for all the support everyone has given us, visits at the hospital, help around the house, and all the love and encouragement we have needed. Amelia is going to be a very spoiled and loved child.

So sorry we have been out of touch the past week...we had a couple of "major medical issues" come up with both of our moms in the past week so it has been a bit crazy.

We have definitely been keeping up with your blog and loving all of the pictures. Please keep posting them so we can watch her grow....!

You make a wonderful little family....! Hope to talk to you this weekend.

Love to all "3" of you....!

Big Hugs from Kathy & Woody
